As much as I encourage everyone to keep thinking about what else there is for them, starting a business is something that needs to be carefully considered. Let’s talk about 4 good reasons you would start your own business so you can reflect on where you are at.

Most people who dream about doing something for themselves are in the same position. However, those who set out to succeed not only start with the right intention to make it succeed but they also seek out people who have done it before for themselves on their own.

Today I am going to share 3 TIPS to be aware of as you start to plan.

For far too long everyone has done what someone else has done. They catch on to a new buzzword or thought and believe they are moving with the change-makers. 

If that is the path you have been following or tempted to follow, take a moment to pause and think about this? Is it achieving the outcome that you want? Have you even considered your desired outcome? 

As a mum, I know you just look at what you do every single day as simply what you need to do so you can get the job done. But, each of these skills that you possess also makes for the best entrepreneur. Yet, we don’t seem to see these skills as transferable skills in business.

We want to show our children there is no fear that comes from failure, only learnings. There is no disappointment only support for trying something new to discover what might be. It is through this interaction that they can find a solution that is yet to be considered let alone discovered.

Creating certainty is about being clear with what you want, just as much as what you don’t want. It is like the “Black & White” discussion. We all know there is a lot of grey in between so this is where I play. I create my “Black and White” – I call this my boundaries, and then I play in the “grey” in between.

The question “When do you think leadership development needs to form part of your career?” is something I am often asked by aspiring young employees who are looking at their career path, or by middle management employees who are in positions of leadership.

I want to create a path that allows our teenagers to be heard, understood, and to develop a new way of stepping forward in life.

If we step in and take control, no matter if it is for a child, a staff, a friend, we take away their opportunity to shine. Worse still we take away their opportunity to learn from what steps they have taken, and then to reflect and try again.

As adults, we are often encouraged through work to seek out personal development, to get involved, to collaborate. What would it be like for you now if these opportunities were provided to you as a young adolescent? As a teenager when you were going through so much change or even as a school leaver still not certain of what you want to be or where you want to go?

Who would have thought that the Letter between “D” and “F” would determine your success in life and in business and yet that very letter do all of that depending on what you make of it!

High-performing teams impact the value of the business itself, it impacts stock prices, IPO outcomes, and how investors look at it as a business.  Success can be seen through its productivity and of course through its culture. How is it that some businesses can get it right and others fall short?

Deep down we all long to do something for ourselves. We have passion, a vision to be more or to do more. However, we often hold back so, as the world has come to a somewhat state of stagnation, why not take control back into your hands?

Whilst others pursue the path to become more resilient, think about what you want. Do you want to survive and have learnt from it, or do you want to learn and strengthen from it?

We all know that what tomorrow looks like will be a result of what we have done today. Don’t play the short term game, look at what can happen well beyond our lifecycle and create the path for that.

In order to develop high-performing teams, you need your people to trust you. Only in a psychologically safe environment will they be able to start thinking bigger, limitlessly even and to be fully part of the journey.
