Business at the Intersection of Education
From Doubt to Direction - Empowering Teams to Build Vision
Industry: Professional Services
Team Structure: Strong senior leadership, underdeveloped operations and sales teams
Initial Challenge: Vision misalignment, skill imbalance, and internal resistance to growth
From doubt to direction, we empowered a small business to become a subject matter expert and thought leader, anticipating future skills shortages and creating new pathways to lead with purpose and impact.
Case Study
-
This business had vision at the top but uncertainty at the core. While the CEO and senior leadership held deep expertise, they faced several internal barriers:
Limited skills across the operational and sales teams
Risk-averse senior staff, hesitant to lead transformational change
A lack of confidence in the CEO’s growth vision, creating internal misalignment
-
We took a two-pronged approach—building capability and building belief.
Phase 1: Empowering Leadership
Coached two senior leaders to build confidence and clarity in their leadership
Helped shift the mindset from perfectionism to action-driven growth
Introduced the idea of vision-led leadership, encouraging them to dare to dream big
“You don’t need perfection to grow—you need momentum, structure, and belief.”
Phase 2: Transforming Expertise into Revenue
Simultaneously, we identified untapped assets within the business: the deep skills held by senior leaders. We helped:
Translate their expertise into structured training materials
Package this into a sellable knowledge product
Position the new offering as a credible source of income and authority, even for a small business
This created a dual outcome: new income and elevated brand positioning.
Phase 3: Governance, Growth & Grants
With leadership empowered and capability forming across the business, we turned to infrastructure and compliance:
Built robust governance and compliance frameworks
Positioned the business for government and grant-readiness
Created a foundation for sustainable scaling
-
- Confidence built in leadership and across teams
- A new, scalable product developed from internal expertise
- Secured new revenue streams and government contracts
- Eligible for and awarded growth grants within 3 months
- Greater organisational alignment with the CEO’s visionStrategic Insight: Vision is Vital—But Foundation is Fundamental
Big visions are powerful—but they only work when supported by:
Operational confidence
Internal alignment
Revenue diversification and governance structures
Why It Worked
We know how to shift perspectives. Our ability to toggle between macro vision and micro execution—what we call the "helicopter lens"—means we can turn aspiration into action, every time.
“That’s why leaders across the world trust us—not just to support their growth, but to help them see it’s possible.” - Cathy

Strengthening Foundations for a Small Business with Public Sector Reliance
A small business with six employees and a single service offering approached us with the need to formalise operations and build internal resilience. Their dependency on Public Sector procurement posed a strategic risk, and they required support to establish a sustainable and scalable business model.
-
The client approached us with a strong, committed team and a reliable service—but one that was vulnerable due to:
A single revenue stream dependent on the Public Sector
A lack of formal organisational structure
Limited operational processes
Untapped skills within the team
The business needed to stabilise, strengthen, and scale—without disrupting its core.
-
Phase 1: Laying the Foundations
At the outset, our primary focus was to:
Embed compliance frameworks aligned with sectoral standards
Establish an organisational structure that supported clarity in roles and accountability
Introduce operational rigour through documented processes and governance
Assess and realign team capabilities, ensuring existing skills were recognised and optimised
Our approach was deliberately strength-based and measured. Change was introduced in a way that built confidence and empowered staff rather than exposing gaps.
Phase 2: Financial Forecasting and Growth Planning
With the foundational elements in place, attention turned to the business’s financial position. A detailed financial review and forecast were developed to ensure:
Capacity for future investment, particularly in staffing, technology, and service innovation
Clear visibility on cash flow and cost implications for scaling operations
Sustainable growth targets, aligned with projected revenue streams
This financial clarity allowed leadership to make informed decisions about resource allocation and strategic expansion.
Phase 3: Strategic Diversification to Minimise Risk
Having built capacity and capability, the business was ready for its next strategic move: diversification. Recognising the risk of relying solely on Public Sector income, we worked together to:
Identify new markets with complementary needs
Develop distinct vertical streams that could operate semi-independently
Tailor service offerings to meet the unique demands of each new client base
This strategic shift significantly de-risked the business and laid the groundwork for resilient growth.
-
Results and Impact
The outcomes of this journey have been transformative:
The company has grown from a team of 6 to over 200 employees
It now operates three independent vertical streams, each targeting a different sector
The business has maintained a strong culture of measured growth, rooted in clarity, capability, and strategic foresight
Key Insights
Scalable growth requires not just ambition, but structure and planning
Balancing skill, capacity, and capability ensures teams grow with the business, not apart from it
Minimising risk while scaling is possible through a phased, thoughtful approach that integrates financial, operational, and strategic planning
Conclusion
This case study illustrates how small businesses can evolve into complex, multi-stream organisations with the right guidance and approach. Success lies in the art of building and stretching—bringing people along the journey while putting in place the infrastructure that supports sustainable growth.

From Story to Legacy
Empowering Teen Voices to Create Global Change
When two students approached me with a vision that reached beyond their networks, skills, and what they believed was possible, I realised that they held more than a story, they held the spark of a movement. What began as a few pages became a vision to address a global issue affecting countless teenagers: the impact of external appearance on self-worth. Through mentorship, they not only wrote a book, but are now building a platform to lead generational change, challenge societal norms, and inspire others to rise.
-
These students were driven by a deep desire to make a difference but lacked the tools, and support to bring their vision to life. They felt limited by their environment, uncertain about their ability to be heard, and unaware of the scale of the problem, a silent epidemic affecting youth worldwide: the diminishing self-worth tied to physical appearance.
Their initial goal was to write a story, a personal account of struggle and truth that they saw around them. But they didn’t yet see the potential of their voice, or how their lived experience could inspire global change.
-
My role as a mentor was to show them that their story was not an end it was a beginning. I challenged them to think bigger, to step into their power not just as authors, but as advocates and changemakers.
Together, we expanded their story in order that it becomes a published book that tackled the societal pressure on youth appearance and identity. We developed a strategy to use the book as a platform to influence education, create awareness, and foster dialogue. More than writing, this was about movement-building giving teenagers everywhere permission to be seen, heard, and valued.
We built leadership into the process:
I invited them to step into mentorship themselves, to show others what’s possible, and to light the path for those who follow.
-
Book Completed: A powerful publication written by teens, addressing global issues of identity, self-worth, and societal pressure.
Movement Ignited: What began as a story became a movement advocating for youth voice, well-being, and truth.
Legacy in Motion: The project now aims to be integrated into educational curriculums, reaching students at a systemic level.
Leaders Created: The students evolved into mentors that influence fort impact, role models for others who dare to dream and take action.
Generational Impact: This initiative is planting the seeds for generational change, a ripple effect that challenges norms and redefines what young people believe is possible.
